The Festival 2018 Cairns opening night will kick off the festivities with performances from Cairns favourites NightShift as well as new-wave brass band Bullhorn. Mid-set don’t miss an incredible fireworks display signifying the start of Festival 2018 Cairns and the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. More live music performances will follow throughout Festival 2018 Cairns on the Live Site Music Main Stage, featuring famous international music stars as well as local favourites. Performers on the lineup include Amy Shark (April 5), The Montgomery Brothers (April 6), Drewboy and the Sax Addicts (April 7), Archie Roach (April 8), Leanne Tennant and Band (April 9), King Social (April 10), Melafunk Collective (April 11), Kate Miller-Heidke (April 12), and Mau Power, The Cat Empire and more on the festival’s final weekend (April 14-15).
Be inspired at the visual arts exhibits happening during Festival 2018 Cairns. From April 4 to April 15 stop by the Mixed Blood: Contemporary Indigenous Cultural Expression, a cultural art exhibit showcasing 10 Cairns-based artists; the Big Design outdoor art gallery, featuring art pieces from students aged 15 to 17; and the You and Me: Umi Arts Members Exhibition, a diverse art exhibit hosted by UMI Arts. Also from April 9 to April 15 don’t miss a fascinating sand art exhibit with Shifting Sands by Brigitte Strivens.
For those that love dance, don’t miss Trade Winds by Polytoxic from April 4 to April 8, a stunning performance and collaboration from dance-theatre company Polytoxic and visual artist Samuel Tupou. For artists and those that love to get creative, enhance your skills at the Spart Workshops from April 4 to April 15.
Kids attending Festival 2018 Cairns won’t get bored with Art-tivity by Regular Rick from April 5 to April 15, featuring local artist Regular Rick and a number of arts and games activities.
