Plans are now underway for the 2014 Cairns Festival: 54 Years Under the Tropical Sun, which will be held from August 30 to September 7. The 9 day season will encompass unique events, including major cornerstones such as Cairns Amateurs. The festival venues will be at the Centre of Contemporary Arts, Tanks Arts Centre, Cairns Civic Theatre, and Cairns Esplanade. Explore the Far North’s sense of place as well as new creative links between Australia’s North and South. The festival will culminate in the Grand Parade, sectacular fireworks, and free concert on the Esplanade.
Held annually during the August and September Festival Cairns is one of Australia’s leading regional cultural festivals.
As Cairns becomes the stage of fun and festvities, the Festival harnesses the strengths of Cairns’ natural ambience, beautiful scenery, balmy spring weather and quality cultural and tourism attractions to create a unique festival experience.
From signature food and wine events and performances by guest national and international artists, to multi-cultural and community celebrations that showcase the region’s talent, Festival Cairns is a celebration of Tropical Australia’s diverse cultural life.
